Since our founding in 2007, our 100 percent cashmere palm tree sweater has been one of the best-selling styles. This relatively simple design encompasses so much of our DNA: superlative cashmere yarn knitted by hand, combining a classic silhouette with a light-hearted embellishment, cheekily contrasting a cold-weather staple with a symbol of beachy getaways.
This signature piece and its palm tree, nodding to sunny locales, was a starting point for the Spring-Summer 2024 collection, which plays with ideas of escapism. Motifs are drawn from the worlds of aquatic sports and tropical destinations, seen in playful riffs on souvenir tee graphics. The team enlisted a local LA artist who specializes in T-shirt airbrushing to lend their technique to cashmere. Elsewhere, two of this season’s new tie-dye patterns were inspired by satellite imagery of tropical hurricanes.
The materials used for this season — including a fine cotton-hemp yarn used in patchwork intarsia, a cotton fortified with metal for structure, and plush 100 percent mulberry silk knits — are especially lightweight and soft, continuing our commitment to fiber innovation.
The idea of a deserted island, the setting for this season’s lookbook shot in the Florida Keys, got us thinking about essentials — those foundational pieces that are the basis of one’s wardrobe. In an effort to develop such utilitarian garments while maintaining an emphasis on the highest quality materials, this season led us to develop a new cotton-cashmere jersey, milled in Japan. This practical yet luxurious textile is introduced in a range of T-shirts and sweats that will be a fixture in our collections moving forward.
